Amaravati, Mar 24 (PTI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday directed senior police officials to probe the alleged fire accidents in the greenfield capital city of Amaravati, ascertaining whether they were really mishaps or arson.

His remarks come in the wake of some pipes belonging to a construction company catching fire on Monday night in Rayapudi village.

“Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu directed officials to find out the truth behind the blaze in capital Amaravati,” an official release quoting Naidu said.

He issued directives to DGP Harish Kumar Gupta, Guntur SP Vakul Jindal and Intelligence ADGP Mahesh Chandra Laddha.

Alleging that repeated fire accidents are occurring in the greenfield capital since the coalition government came to power, the CM noted that “repeated” incidents and their manner is raising suspicions on the possibility of an intentional conspiracy.

On March 11, a fire accident occurred at a construction company’s camp in Amaravati, damaging High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) pipes.

Considering major construction works in Amaravati and the need to store construction material worth crores of rupees, Naidu said incidents of this kind will disrupt the greenfield capital’s construction workflow.

Amidst this background, he called for intensified patrolling, surveillance and the deployment of additional security guards at construction material storage centres.

Besides calling for surveillance through drones, Naidu also called on the construction companies to step up security at their storage yards, including keeping an eye on strangers. PTI STH KH
