Amaravati, March 26 (PTI) The Andhra Pradesh cabinet headed by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday approved a decision to convene the legislative assembly to pass a resolution for achieving clear legal sanctity and legitimacy to Amaravati as the capital city of the state.
As per this approval, the assembly will pass a resolution requesting the Central Government to amend the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014, which deals with common capital for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
“The cabinet approved the assembly to pass a resolution requesting the Central Government to amend section 5 of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014,” said an official press release.
The resolution will request the Centre to recognise Amaravati as capital.
The house is scheduled to meet on Saturday, March 28 where this resolution could be passed.
Further, the cabinet also gave its nod to establish 99 new courts and to create 1730 posts to work in them. PTI MS GDK SA
