The All-India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) has successfully hosted the Second National Seminar SAUSHRUTAM Shalya Sangoshti, 2024, a PIB press release stated.

The seminar, which was organised by the Department of Shalya Tantra at AIIA New Delhi, was dedicated to Sushruta, considered as the father of surgery.

The seminar saw the participation of 25 live complex surgical procedures, which provided an opportunity for the participants to observe and learn various surgical techniques from renowned surgeons. The surgeries were performed on patients suffering from conditions such as fistula, hemorrhoids, pilingidal sinus, gall bladder stone, and hernia, and were carried out using newer techniques such as VAAFT, laparscoly, and laser, as well as traditional Shayla methods.

AIIA Director Prof. (Dr) Tanuja Nesari said, “Since its inception, AIIA has been committed to elevating Ayurveda globally. Saushrutam, hosted by the Department of Shalya Tantra, exemplifies our dedication to integrating Ayurveda with cutting-edge surgical technology, empowering aspiring Ayurvedic surgeons with advanced skills and confidence in integrated surgical practices.”

The third day of the seminar witnessed the Sushruta Poojan ceremony, as well as a paper presentation competition, which was the culmination of the event. Prizes were being distributed for the paper presentation competition and a vote of thanks to the participants.

The event was also well received by other dignitaries such as the Dean of the PG, Prof. Anand More, and other senior faculty members of AIIA.
