Jaipur: An Alwar court on Wednesday acquitted all six accused in the lynching of Pehlu Khan, allegedly killed two years ago by a mob that set upon him while he was transporting cows.
The Additional Judicial Magistrate acquitted the six men, giving them benefit of the doubt, according to a lawyer.
Pehlu Khan (55), his two sons and a few others were transporting cows when they were allegedly stopped and thrashed by cow vigilantes near Behror on April 1, 2017.
Khan died in hospital on April 3.
Additional Public Prosecutor Yogendra Khatana told reporters that the prosecution will appeal against the verdict in the higher court after studying the court order.

What is “benefit of doubt” in this case?
Look how we turned out after 72 years. Our founding fathers will be turning in their graves. There is no rule of law, there is no justice and no respect for human rights.
It doesn’t matter which party is in power. The criminal justice system has broken down. Hope Pehlu Khan’s family finds peace somehow.
If this case where there is the victims recorded statement and a sting video doesn’t lead to conviction then the police and judiciary should just retire in shame. Some one should approach the supreme court and get all the cases of these cow terrorists monitored through some mechanism, local police cannot be trusted with investigation.
As anticipated… In India, benifit of doubt is privilege of few
Isn’t Congress government ruling Rajasthan right now? Why so much duplicity? If the leftist media comes after BJP when any such case falls apart why not question Congress now? Why no allegation of the public prosecutor not making a proper case? In this case, the Rajasthan government had even officially charged Pehlu Khan. Probably the TV studios in Delhi will not sleep over it.
Does it matter if it is Congress or BJP? This case simply shows what’s happening in India today.
Very unfortunate. If memory serves one right, Pehlu Khan had named some of the assailants in his statement, which later became a dying declaration. CM Ashok Gehlot, who is also Home Minister, ought to have ensured that the police presented a watertight case to the Court.
This should be fought tooth and nail. The people who killed Khan should be brought to justice.
What has India come to?
