Lucknow, Apr 8 (PTI) Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday took a swipe at the Election Commission over its recent social media post on West Bengal polls, saying just remove ECI and everything will take care of itself.
Reacting to the poll panel’s post, Yadav said in a post on X, “Just remove the ECI, and everything else will take care of itself”, and used the hashtag “#Ethically_Corrupt_Institution”.
Earlier, the Election Commission, in a X post titled “ECI’s straight talk to Trinamool Congress”, said, “This time, the Elections in West Bengal would surely be: Fear-free, Violence-free, Intimidation-free, Inducement-free and without any Chappa, Booth Jamming and Source Jamming.” The EC’s post came on a day when a meeting between the Trinamool Congress delegation and the full bench of the poll body ended on an acrimonious note, with Mamata Banerjee’s party saying the panel’s chief asked them to “get lost” at the end of the seven-minute meeting, while the EC accused them of “shouting”.
The elections to the 294-member West Bengal Assembly are scheduled to take place in two phases on April 23 and 29. PTI ABN AMJ AMJ
