Lucknow, Mar 15 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday issued directives for immediate assessment of the damage caused to crops in light of the rainfall in the western part of the state, the government said in a statement.

“District magistrates must go out in the field to ensure an immediate assessment of the damage being caused to crops. The relief commissioner shall maintain direct coordination with field-level officials,” Adityanath directed.

He also instructed that upon receiving the assessment of the crop damage, arrangements must be ensured for the timely distribution of compensation.

Meanwhile, the meteorological department on Sunday said that moderate thunderstorms with lightning and light to moderate rain are very likely over parts of Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr, Hapur, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Baghpat, Bijnor, Muzaffarnagar, Shamli, Saharanpur districts and adjoining areas.
