Etah (UP), Mar 26 (PTI) A 65-year-old farmer died after being allegedly trampled by a herd of stray cattle here on Thursday, police said.

According to the deceased’s family members, the incident took place at Nagla Sant village when Veerpal had gone to check his maize crop in a nearby field.

While returning, a herd of stray cattle knocked Veerpal down and trampled over him, causing serious injuries, police said.

He was rushed to a nearby medical college, where doctors declared him dead on arrival, they added.

Circle Officer Shakalp Deep Kushwaha said that prima facie, it appears to be a case of accident.

“The body has been sent for post-mortem, and further action will be taken based on the findings,” Kushwaha said.

The officer also promised to take up the issue of stray cattle in the area with the concerned authorities.

Vikas Kumar, a local farmer, alleged that the menace of stray cattle is increasing in the area, damaging crops and posing risks to farmers, with no concrete taken by the authorities despite repeated complaints. PTI COR CDN SMV ARI
