Thiruvananthapuram, Apr 11 (PTI) Civil Supplies officials seized around 500 commercial gas cylinders allegedly illegally stored at a private gas agency’s premises at Attingal here on Saturday.

The officials told a TV channel that commercial gas cylinders of different sizes were found at the agency following an inspection based on secret information that cooking gas was being illegally sold from there.

“Most of these cylinders are of oil companies which were stored here illegally,” one of the officials said.

He said that the private agency was claiming it got the cylinders from oil companies, but that was not possible.

The official further said that a detailed report will be given to the District Collector who will then issue notice to the concerned persons, seeking their presence and after hearing them, will take an appropriate decision.

“Such diversions are occurring at various places and that is why special squads under the Civil Supplies Department have been formed to carry out inspections. The inspection here was also part of this initiative,” he said. PTI HMP ROH
