4 held with opium in Jharkhand’s Khunti

Khunti, Mar 25 (PTI) Four persons have been arrested and 6.3 kg opium seized from their possession in Jharkhand’s Khunti district, police said on Wednesday.

Based on a tip-off, a police team conducted raids and recovered the opium and 40 kg of poppy husk, worth around Rs 36 lakh, from the houses of two accused, SP Manish Toppo said.

“All the four arrested accused are residents of Khunti district. They have been in contact with opium smugglers from Haryana, Rajasthan, and western Uttar Pradesh for a long time,” he said.
