Chandigarh, Mar 23 (PTI) Two pedestrians and a motorcyclist were killed, and four others were injured after a canter-truck’s brakes allegedly failed and hit them on Monday, police said.
According to police, the truck driver was coming from Kiriti Nagar in Delhi when the incident took place in Bahadurgarh in Jhajjar district of Haryana.
In the incident, the truck hit two pedestrians — a man and his nephew from Bihar’s Chhapra. They succumbed to their injuries.
“Then, while heading towards Sector 9 old bypass road in Bahadurgarh, the truck hit an autorickshaw and a motorcyclist ahead of the three-wheeler. In this incident, the motorcyclist was killed while his pillion rider was injured,” a police officer told reporters.
Three people were killed in separate locations after being hit by the canter truck, while four were injured. Among the injured, a woman was referred to PGIMS hospital in Rohtak, he said.
The truck driver has been arrested. “During questioning, he claimed that the brakes of his vehicle had failed. A case has been registered in connection with the incident, and further investigations are underway,” he added. PTI SUN HIG HIG
