New Delhi, Apr 3 (PTI) Fine and imprisonment under two sections of the Delhi Police Act 1978 will no longer be in place after the passage of the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, 2026.

The Bill, cleared by Parliament on Thursday, proposes to omit penalties for select provisions considered outdated or minor in nature.

Under the changes, Section 95 of the Delhi Police Act — which penalises allowing a child under seven years to commit nuisance in public places with a fine of up to Rs 100 — will be removed.

Section 102 (c), which makes it an offence to be found in any building or vehicle without a satisfactory explanation between sunset and sunrise and is punishable with up to three months imprisonment, will also be omitted. PTI BM APL
