Shahdol (MP), Jul 17 (PTI) Two labourers on Thursday were trapped while digging for a sewer line in Madhya Pradesh’s Shahdol city after the soil caved in, police said, adding that a rescue operation was underway.

The incident took place around 1.30 pm in ward number 1, Sohagpur police station house officer (SHO) Bhupendra Mani Pandey told PTI.

A Gujarat-based company was carrying out the work of laying a sewer line, he said.

Teams of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and local police reached the spot and were trying to locate the two labourers — whose names were not known yet — using a JCB machine, the official said.

The wet soil following a spell of heavy rain made the job difficult, Pandey added. PTI COR LAL KRK
