2 children drown in Ganga in Prayagraj

Prayagraj (UP), Mar 27 (PTI) Two children drowned and two went missing after being swept away by strong currents in the Ganga river here on Friday morning, police said.

The incident occurred near Bampur village under the Manda police station limits in the Yamuna Nagar zone.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Yamuna Nagar) Vivek Chandra Yadav said the children had gone to bathe in the river around 10 am when the incident occurred.

The bodies of Kunal, 12, and Deepak, 17, have been recovered, he said.

Two others, Nihal and Kamlesh, both aged 10, are still missing, and divers have been deployed to trace them, the officer added. PTI RAJ CDN SMV SMV MIN MIN
