Beed, Apr 13 (PTI) An 18-year-old man drowned in a farm pond in a village in Beed district of central Maharashtra on Monday afternoon, police officials said.

According to the officials, the incident occurred at around 2.30 pm when the young man, Ritesh Deepak Waghmare, a resident of Sheri (Budruk) village under Ashti tehsil, had gone to a nearby farm pond with friends for swimming.

After some of his friends left the spot, he stayed back with another companion. While washing clothes near the pond, Waghmare slipped and fell into deep water. Unable to swim, he drowned before help could reach him, they said.
