Beed, Apr 1 (PTI) A two-and-a-half-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by a 13-year-old schoolboy in a village in Beed district of Maharashtra, police said on Wednesday, in second such crime involving a juvenile within a week.
According to police officials, the toddler had gone to an open field behind her house at around 5.30 pm on Tuesday when the minor boy, hailing from the same village, allegedly subjected her to sexual assault.
The victim’s mother approached the Bardapur Police Station on Wednesday and filed a complaint. Acting on the complaint, the police booked the minor under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and also the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, they said.
Assistant Police Inspector D.S. Kamble is heading the investigation in the case.
