New Delhi, Apr 7 (PTI) Thirteen people, including three children, were rescued safely after a fire broke out in a residential building in Delhi’s East Patel Nagar area on Tuesday, an official of the Delhi Fire Services said.
A total of five fire units were rushed to the spot. The fire originated in around 10 electric meters installed on the ground floor of the building, which comprises ground plus three storeys.
The rescued persons — three men, seven women and three children — were trapped on the upper floors of the building.
“All were evacuated safely by Delhi Fire Services personnel, with no injuries reported,” the officer added.
According to fire officials, a distress call about the blaze in the house near a hotel in East Patel Nagar with people trapped inside was received at around 12:10 pm.
Thick smoke quickly spread to the upper floors and a swift evacuation and rescue operation was launched.
The blaze was brought under control within 15 minutes. Further investigation is underway. PTI BM RT RT
