New Delhi: The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Friday celebrated its massive victory in Bihar as the BJP-led coalition secured 202 of the 243 seats.
“Jai Chhathi Maiya,” said Prime Minister Narendra Modi as he made a high-energy entry amid loud chants and applause from party workers at the BJP headquarters in Delhi. “The people of Bihar have smashed the Opposition to smithereens, have confirmed the presence of makhaana kheer (rice pudding) in every home,” he said, adding that “katta sarkar” will not return to the state.
“It is a victory of democracy and those who believe in Indian democracy. The Election Commission was targeted by some people, but the huge voter turnout is an achievement for the EC,” he remarked.
He also attacked the Congress party, calling it ‘MMC’ or ‘Muslim league Maovadi Congress’, predicting a further split within its ranks, and among members of the Mahagathbandhan alliance.
