New Delhi: Veteran actor Waheeda Rehman received the Dadasaheb Phalke Lifetime Achievement Award Tuesday from President Droupadi Murmu for her contribution to Indian cinema at the 69th National Film Awards in the national capital.

After the ceremony at Vigyan Bhawan, the actor, who’s best known for her work in films like Guide (1965), Pyaasa (1957), Kaagaz Ke Phool (1959), and Chaudhvin Ka Chand (1960) and whose accolades include the Padma Bhushan and the Padma Shri, told the media that she was “very happy” and that she’s “very honoured and very humbled”.

Other winners include actors Kriti Sanon, who won the ‘Best Actress Award’ for her role in the film Mimi, Alia Bhatt for her movie Gangubai Kathiawadi, and Allu Arjun for his role in Pushpa: The Rise – Part 1.

“Just very, very overwhelmed,” Kriti told the media. “I feel very blessed & grateful. It is a very special moment, especially for Mimi and also my parents were here watching me. I don’t think I’ve felt this before.”

Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar’s production Shershaah starring Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani bagged the Special Jury Award.

Significantly, Telugu filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli’s RRR, which won the Best Original Song at the 95th Academy Awards for its song Naatu Naatu, struck gold once again at the ceremony, having bagged six awards at the ceremony.
