New Delhi: After the declaration of the Lok Sabha election results Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed confidence that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would retain power at the Centre.
Addressing the Bharatiya Janata Party leaders, workers and supporters at the party headquarters, Modi said, “For the first time since 1962, a government has returned for a third consecutive term after successfully completing two terms.”
The prime minister was given a rousing welcome at the BJP office after the NDA secured a majority in the polls with wins on 293 seats. The BJP won 240 seats.
“Today’s victory is the victory of the largest democracy, victory of ‘sabka saath, sabka vikaas‘,” said PM Modi. He also congratulated the party members for the victory in Odisha assembly elections.
