Glimpses from Rajghat: Leaders gather to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on Martyrs’ Day

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Droupadi Murmu, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Chief of Defence Staff Anil Chauhan, Chief of the Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi, Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh, and Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi were among those who paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat on Martyrs’ Day.

Every year, 30 January is observed as Martyrs’ Day because on this day in 1948, Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated. Also known as Shaheed Diwas or Sarvodaya Day, it is when the country honours those who sacrificed their lives for India’s independence.
