New Delhi: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, the chief guest at India’s 76th Republic Day celebrations Sunday, is on his first state visit here since assuming office in October 2024. On Saturday, he received the ceremonial reception at the Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi, where he was welcomes by President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
President Prabowo, who is on a three-day visit, then proceeded to Hyderabad House, where an agreement was signed between the two countries in the maritime security sphere, aimed at strengthening cooperation in crime prevention, search and rescue, and capacity building.
President Prabowo said, “…Indonesia considers India a very great friend. India was one of the first countries, maybe the first country to recognise our independence, to support us in our struggle for independence. We will never forget what India did to help us.”
