New Delhi: The Press Club of India, the media hub located in the heart of Lutyens Delhi, held its annual election Saturday. The election is between two panels of 21 candidates each and a handful of independents, who are aiming for a host of positions, including president, general secretary, and members of the managing committee.

Hundreds of members of the club, which provides journalists with a place to meet each other and oversees several other media-related activities, turned up to vote, all decked up in Covid prevention gear such as masks and face shields.

It was a particularly heartening sight as some veterans of the field arrived in wheelchairs.

Between 9 am and 5 pm, around 1,400 of the 4,200 eligible voters had cast their votes in the club’s draped courtyard.

Election day was a buzz of activity at the club as the candidates made a last-minute push by distributing pamphlets and engaging with voters. The results will be declared Sunday.

ThePrint’s national photo editor Praveen Jain — who is among the candidates in the PCI election — brings you some glimpses from voting day.
