New Delhi: Social media users have been crying foul over a widely-shared image of former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in which the BJP leader is shown ‘faking’ a broken arm.

Users have juxtaposed two photographs of Chouhan — one in which his right arm appears fractured and in a cast, and another where his left arm is injured. The images went viral after Chouhan made a public appearance to celebrate Gandhi Jayanti on 2 October.

But the two photographs are mirrored images of each other, making it seem like the injury had “moved” from one arm to the other.

The post has gone viral on both Twitter and Facebook, having garnered at least 580 likes and 230 shares, with variations of the following caption:

“BJP leaders should work in some film industry. Such a miracle, plaster in this hand on one side in the morning, plaster in the other hand in the evening. May the lord quickly fix both of Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s hands.”

Chouhan had put up a video on his official Twitter handle celebrating Gandhi Jayanti and the five-year anniversary of Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan. In it, his right arm clearly appears to be fractured and in a cast.

Older photos posted by Chouhan on his official social media accounts also show his right arm in a cast.

According to his Facebook posts, Chouhan seems to have sustained the injury between 25 and 29 September.
