New Delhi: The India vs New Zealand semifinals in the ongoing Cricket World Cup is under way and tweets and photographs in support of the Indian team have taken social media by storm.
Among these is a photograph doing the rounds on Twitter featuring coach Ravi Shastri sitting with the team. At first glance, nothing appears to be amiss with the photograph, but a closer look reveals a bottle of alcohol placed next to the coach’s leg and under his seat.
The caption of the viral tweet, posted by a handle called @Madan_Chikna, reads “RT (retweet) when you see it #CWC19”. It had been shared over 650 times and liked at least 1,300 times at the time of writing. Other versions of the tweet zoom in on the bottle.

Photoshopped picture
The bottle between Ravi Shastri’s legs has been digitally added to the photograph, and was never part of the original.
On 6 July, before the Indian team won the match against Sri Lanka, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)’s official Twitter handle posted the image with the caption “One Team. One Nation. One Emotion #TeamIndia”. It didn’t feature any alcohol bottle.
