Goof-up pointed out by BJP spokesperson Tajinder Bagga. Party gets trolled for fake post.

New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party’s official handle Saturday tweeted a photograph of a bridge that it claimed was the much-awaited cable-stayed ‘Signature Bridge’, which was inaugurated under controversial circumstances later in the day.

“Delhi, here is your pride. The signature bridge. Ready to welcome you tomorrow for inauguration ceremony 4 pm onwards,” AAP had tweeted along with the photograph.

The only hitch – the photograph was later found to be that of Erasmus Bridge,  which is located at the heart of Rotterdam in the Netherlands.

The goof-up was pointed out by BJP spokesperson, Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga, who has 424.6 K Twitter followers. “Arvind Kejriwal Sahab vikas kar liya hota to Netherlands ke Erasmus bridge ki photo churane ki zarurat nai padti. Yeh raha link Jahan se apne tasveer churai. Kher chori/ghotala toh apki fitrat main hai,” he tweeted, posting a link of the Dutch bridge.

Soon after his tweet, people on social media began trolling AAP for putting up a fake picture of the bridge.

The two bridges

The Erasmus bridge too is a combined cable-stayed and bascule bridge in the centre of Rotterdam; it connects the northern and southern parts of the city. The bridge named after Desiderius Erasmus, a prominent Christian renaissance humanist, is the second largest bridge in the Netherlands.

The 575-metre Signature Bridge, built across the Yamuna River, is the first asymmetrical cable-stayed bridge in India.

It took around 14 years to complete and is expected to reduce travel time and traffic congestion between the north-eastern and northern parts of Delhi.  It features a glass-steel observation deck at the top of the bridge, which will have a panoramic view of the national capital. It will also have a selfie spot.
