Over 30 lakh vaccine doses administered in last 24 hours, active cases cross 2.2 lakh

New Delhi: Over 30 lakh vaccine doses were administered in India in the last 24 hours, even as active cases crossed 2.2 lakh.

More than three crore vaccine doses have been administered across the country so far.

Daily cases

In the last 24 hours, 24,492 new cases of Covid-19 have been reported across the country. Maharashtra continues to record the highest number of new cases everyday.

Active cases

Active cases in India continue to increase, with 2,23,432 cases reported in the last 24 hours. The highest number of active cases is being reported by Maharashtra, followed by Kerala, Punjab, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

Number of deaths

The number of daily deaths are once again on the rise. In the last 24 hours, 131 Covid-19 deaths were reported across the country. As many as 1,58,856 people in India have died due to the virus in the country since the beginning of the pandemic.

Mortality rate

The overall fatality rate for India dropped to 1.39.

Punjab’s case fatality reduced to 3.05, which is still the highest in the country. Maharashtra’s CFR reduced to 2.27 while Sikkim’s fatality rate stands at 2.18.

The number of Covid tests conducted increased to 8,73,350 in the last 24 hours. Over 22.8 crore tests have been carried out in the country since the beginning of the pandemic.

Positivity rate

With an increase in testing, the test positivity reduced to 2.8 per cent in the last 24 hours. The overall positivity, calculated since the beginning of the pandemic, also dropped to 4.9 per cent.

Recovered cases

As many as 20,191 patients have been discharged from Covid-19 hospitals across India in the last 24 hours. This brings the total number of recoveries since the beginning of the pandemic to 1,10,27,543.

Daily vaccinations

A total of 3,29,47,432 vaccine doses have been administered in India so far, with 30,39,394 doses administered in the last 24 hours. Of these, 2,70,79,484 have received the first doses, while 58,67,948 have received the second doses of the vaccine.

As many as 1,14,09,831 people in India have been infected with Covid-19 since the beginning of the pandemic. The highest number of cases have been reported from Maharashtra, followed by Kerala and Karnataka.

States with highest active cases

In the past 24 hours, Maharashtra reported 15,051 new cases of Covid-19, which has increased active cases in the state to 1,31,812.

As many as 23,29,464 cases of Covid-19 have been reported from the state since the beginning of the pandemic. Of these, 52,909 people have died, with 48 deaths reported in the last 24 hours.

In Kerala, active Covid-19 cases reduced to 27,357. Since yesterday, the state reported 1,054 new cases.

This takes the total number of cases detected from the state to 10,92,324 since the beginning of the pandemic. With 11 deaths reported in the last 24 hours, the state’s Covid-19 death toll increased to 4,407.

In Punjab, active cases increased to 11,942, with 1,818 new cases of Covid-19 reported in the last 24 hours.

A total of 1,99,573 people in the state have tested positive for the virus since the beginning of the pandemic. With 27 deaths reported in the last 24 hours, the state’s death toll increased to 6,099.

Karnataka reported 932 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, as a result active cases in the state increased to 8,879. A total of 9,61,204 cases have been reported from the state since the beginning of the pandemic.

With seven deaths reported in the last 24 hours, the death toll increased to 12,397.

In Tamil Nadu, active cases increased to 5,149, with 836 new cases detected in the last 24 hours. This brings the total number of cases detected from the state to 8,60,562.

The state reported four deaths in the last 24 hours, which has taken the death toll to 12,551.
