New Delhi: Active cases in India declined for the second consecutive day, dropping to 1,84,598 Wednesday. Over 43 lakh people have now received both doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.
Daily Cases

As many as 17,921 new cases of Covid-19 have been reported from across the country since yesterday. Maharashtra alone reported over 55 per cent of the new Covid-19 cases.
Active cases

Active cases in India dropped for the second consecutive day to 1,84,598 Wednesday. The highest number of active cases is being reported from Maharashtra, followed by Kerala, Punjab, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
Number of deaths

In the last 24 hours, 133 deaths were reported from across the country. The overall Covid-19 death toll in India is now 1,58,063.
Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Delhi and West Bengal have recorded the highest number of deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
Mortality rate

The overall fatality rate for India is now 1.40. Punjab’s case fatality reduced to 3.12 — which is still the highest in the country. Maharashtra’s CFR reduced to 2.34, while that of Sikkim is 2.18.
Daily tests

A total of 7,63,081 Covid-19 tests were conducted in 1,224 government laboratories and 1,186 private laboratories across the country.
A total of 22,34,79,877 tests have been carried out in the country since the beginning of the pandemic.
Positivity rate

With increased number of cases, the test positivity increased to 2.3 per cent in the last 24 hours. The overall positivity, calculated since the beginning of the pandemic, is five per cent.
Recovered cases

As many as 20,652 Covid-19 patients were discharged across the country in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries since the beginning of the pandemic to 1,09,20,046.
Daily vaccinations

A total of 2,43,67,906 vaccine doses have been administered in India so far, with 13,59,173 doses administered in the last 24 hours. Of these, 2,00,04,227 are first doses, while 43,63,679 have received the second dose of the vaccine.
Total cases

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 1,12,62,707 people in India have been infected with Covid-19. The largest number of cases so far have been reported from Maharashtra, followed by Kerala and Karnataka.
States with highest active cases

In the last 24 hours, Maharashtra reported 9,927 new cases of Covid-19. Active cases in the state dropped to 96,548.
A total of 22,38,398 cases of Covid-19 have been reported from the state since the beginning of the pandemic. Of these, 52,556 people have died, with 56 deaths reported in the last 24 hours.
Active cases in Kerala fell to 37,446 Wednesday. As many as 2,316 new cases of Covid-19 were reported from the state in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases in the state to 10,81,055.
With 16 deaths reported in the last 24 hours, the state’s Covid-19 death toll increased to 4,328.
In Punjab, active cases continued to increase, with number rising to 8,522 Wednesday. With 1,027 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, the total number of cases reported from the state rose to 1,90,647.
With 20 deaths reported in the last 24 hours, the states Covid-19 death toll increased to 5,961.
Karnataka reported 590 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, taking active cases in the state to 7,052. A total of 9,56,041 Covid-19 cases have been reported from the state.
Of these, 12,373 people have died, with six deaths reported in the last 24 hours.
In Tamil Nadu, active cases increased to 4,073, with 569 new cases of Covid detected in the last 24 hours. This brings the total number of cases reported from the state to 8,56,246.
The state recorded four deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the Covid-19 death toll to 12,525.
