Hyderabad, Mar 12 (PTI) Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Thursday inaugurated Netflix’s Eyeline Studios here and invited the OTT leader to set up a bigger facility in the ‘Bharat Future City’ being developed by the state government on the city outskirts.
Eyeline is Netflix’s innovation hub.
Reddy vowed to attract all the Fortune 500 companies to the Bharat Future City.
Highlighting his dream to make Hyderabad a hub of the international film industry, Reddy said Netflix setting up a facility in the city means the “arrival” of Hollywood.
“This is the stepping stone for my dream. This is the place not only for Tollywood, Bollywood, Kollywood. I have been focusing on Hollywood. Today, I am happy to announce that Netflix is here. I can authoritatively say Hollywood is here. My dream is going to come true. I sincerely welcome Netflix,” he said.
Urging Netflix to expand its presence in Hyderabad, he assured the government’s support to the OTT platform.
Reddy, who said he has been interested in films since his childhood, offered to allot land in the ‘Bharat Future City’ where AI would be hosted in a big way for Netflix to establish a bigger facility.
“I don’t know where your corporate office is. But, you have to relocate your corporate office to my Bharat Future City. I have openly told my Prime Minister (Narendra Modi). I am going to attract every company in the Fortune 500 list to my Bharat Future City,” he said.
Observing that “Hyderabad is a natural home for Netflix”, he said both the city and the OTT platform are global success stories.
Noting that Netflix has, of late, been putting lot of focus on sports, Reddy said his government is promoting sports in a big way by building sports infrastructure and establishing a sports university.
The launch of Eyeline Studios aligns with Netflix’s global strategy to expand its production innovation infrastructure, a company release said.
The facility positions India as a core node in global production pipelines, embedding advanced visual effects, virtual production, and next-generation production technology, it said.
The new office spans 32,000 sq.ft, and features state-of-the-art technology for advanced visual effects and generative virtual effects, all supported by a robust hybrid cloud infrastructure.
The Hyderabad facility is the fifth global location for Eyeline, in addition to Los Angeles, Vancouver, Seoul, and London, the release said.
Speaking at the launch of Eyeline Studios, Secretary, Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Sanjay Jaju said Hyderabad has emerged as a vibrant hub of talent and innovation, with a rapidly expanding media and entertainment ecosystem.
Jaju said Eyeline Studios will serve as an important centre in South Asia, integrating technological innovation with the art of storytelling and creating new opportunities for the audiovisual and entertainment sectors.
Referring to the World Audiovisual Entertainment Summit held in Mumbai last year, he recalled that Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasised the importance of the “Orange Economy”, which focuses on creative and cultural industries.
He also highlighted that the Union Budget announced the establishment of 15,000 content creator labs in schools and 500 in colleges across the country, expected to generate nearly two million jobs in the creative sector.
Jaju expressed confidence that Hyderabad would play a key role in this growth due to its strong presence in the Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics (AVGC) sector.
He also announced that the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT) will soon open a regional campus in Hyderabad, further strengthening the ecosystem for creative technologies and content creation.
Jeff Shapiro, CEO, Eyeline Studios, said India has long played a defining role in global visual effects, not just because of scale, but because of the depth of creative and technical talent in the country.
Hyderabad stood out immediately for Eyeline to establish its presence. The city brings together a strong technology backbone, world-class engineering capability, and a film culture that understands ambition, he said.
