New Delhi: Bigg Boss 19 first runner-up Farrhana Bhatt has finally responded to Salman Khan’s Weekend Ka Vaar question, “Who will make you their daughter-in-law?”
During the October 26 episode of Weekend Ka Vaar, the actor had mocked Bhatt for using abusive language, saying she is “exactly the kind of daughter-in-law people want” because she abuses, fights and breaks plates. His comment had sparked outrage online, with people calling him “misogynist”.
Speaking to ThePrint, a day after the reality TV show ended, Bhatt said that the Bollywood superstar’s comment “wasn’t good,” but people outside the show know who she truly is.
“I have fans, I have people who love me, I have friends. It’s actually me who has to pick and choose. It’s not ‘who will make me their daughter-in-law’, it’s about ‘mai kiske ghar ki bahu banna chahungi’ (whose daughter-in-law I decide to become). That said, I never took anything personally,” she said.
Khan, along with several contestants, had also mocked Bhatt’s “peace activist” title.

From 40,000 to 2.5 million
Before entering the house, Bhatt had been a peace activist. She has worked with organisations in underprivileged areas of Kashmir. And, has extensively spoken in support of the Indian government. But when she engaged in verbal brawls inside the house, contestants as well as Khan mocked her title.
The actress said that from the moment she entered the house, she knew certain things, including the fact that her peace activist tag would be used against her.
“What does that even mean? Being a peace activist doesn’t mean you don’t have opinions or that you’re weak. It doesn’t make you any less fierce or any less strong. I don’t understand what notion people attach to it,” she said.
“If I am in a situation where I need to assert my opinion or my individuality, why shouldn’t I? Just because I’m a peace activist? I don’t get that,” she added.
Bhatt didn’t win the season, but the social media has labelled Bigg Boss 19, the Farrhana Bhatt show. She was evicted in Week 1 by her housemates and had entered the show with barely 40,000 followers on Instagram, her ascent to first runner-up became the season’s most highlighted story. And, in just three months, her following crossed 2.5 million on Instagram.
Bhatt said that she never wanted to play a victim or a woman card, therefore, she never cried over such remarks and insults. She re-produced her famous dialogue from the show: “I can survive bullets, you are welcome with your guns.”
