New Delhi: After a long wait, the face of the new Naagin of Indian television has been finally revealed, and it is Priyanka Chahar Choudhary. The sixth season of the popular franchise created by Ekta Kapoor aired in 2023, and fans have been waiting for the next season since. Under every post of hers on Instagram, fans have been asking about the show’s release date.
The speculation ended last night when Choudhary and Kapoor appeared in Bigg Boss Weekend Ka Vaar, hosted by Salman Khan.
“I got the show because of Bigg Boss. When Ekta ma’am came to the house during my season, she told me, ‘I am gonna call you soon. I have found my Naagin’,” Choudhary said.
The actor made her television debut in 2019 with the show Gathbandhan on Colors TV, where she played Sejal Parekh. She later appeared in Yeh Hai Chahatein (2019).
Her breakthrough came with Udaariyaan (2021-2024), where she played Tejo Kaur Sandhu, a strong and independent woman. In 2022, she participated in Bigg Boss 16 and finished as the second runner-up.

Fans upset
Colors posted a video of Chaudhary as Naagin for season 7 with a caption, “Kehte hain ki agar kisi cheez ko dil se chaho toh puri kainaat usse tumse milane ki koshish mein lag jaati hai (If you really desire someone, the entire universe strategises to help you meet them)!”
The show, which started in 2015, has seen popular TV actors such as Mouni Roy, Tejasswi Prakash, Surbhi Jyoti, and Nia Sharma portray the lead role. It has a massive viewership and consistently remains among the top Indian TV shows.
But fans were not impressed by the reveal. “Super flop season,” read two comments on the Instagram post.
Fans have commented on her look and jewellery, which they don’t like at all.
“Hope this is not the final costume @colours please don’t make her look like a bar dancer please give her better costume and jewellery make her look like og naagin,” wrote a fan.
Another fan shared her two cents about the casting choice.
“Ekta chose her only because she was trending during BB,” she wrote. In Season 6, the role of the Naagin was played by Tejasswi Prakash, who was the winner of Bigg Boss 15.
Naagin 7 is set to release by the end of this year.
