New Delhi: Bigg Boss has decided to let go of his authority. The reality TV show, now in its 19th season, will see participants practise democracy. There is voting on house issues, two parties and even a parliament-themed assembly room that will see debates. It’s not Bigg Boss, abki baar it’s gharwalon ki sarkar.
The 19th season of the iconic reality show premiered on 24 August, with Salman Khan returning as host. But it came with a twist. After 18 years, Bigg Boss has washed his hands of, leaving the contestants fully accountable for the game’s direction.
“‘Let go’, a phrase often used by your generation, is exactly what I’m doing this time,” Bigg Boss said in his first address to the contestants.
“Because this season, the house will be run by the housemates. On all major issues, tough decisions, and everything in between, it’s your voice that will matter.”
This season’s lineup features YouTuber Mridul Tiwari, actor-turned-lawyer Kunickaa Sadanand, actor and model Baseer Ali, businesswoman and influencer Tanya Mittal, actor and influencer Ashnoor Kaur, actor and Celebrity MasterChef 2025 winner Gaurav Khanna, comedian Pranit More, actor Abhishek Bajaj, influencers Nagma Mirajkar and Awez Darbar, actor and activist Farrhana Bhat and singer Amaal Mallik, among others.
Bigg Boss streams on JioHotstar at 9 pm, followed by a delayed telecast on Colors TV at 10:30 pm.

Assembly room inside Bigg Boss
A parliament-themed assembly room also made its debut in the very first episode, setting the tone for a season driven by debates, power plays, and game-altering decisions.
Going ahead, the contestants will be divided into two political parties each week, battling it out to determine the house captains. Housemates will nominate their own representatives, who will then compete in elections to take the lead.
But the season kicked off with an unexpected twist: the housemates had to make their first tough call, that is, eliminating one of their own.
On Monday, Bigg Boss tasked the 16 contestants with identifying the housemate they felt was least fit to stay, based solely on their first impression.
Sadanand accused Bhat of having an “attitude,” while Mallik claimed she acted superior and brought negative energy. Mridul Tiwari, Baseer Ali, and two other contestants also voted against Bhat
After the final verdict of the contestants, Bigg Boss announced: “Farhana, aapka Bigg Boss ka safar yahin samapt hota hai” (“Farhana, your Bigg Boss journey ends here”).
A visibly upset Bhat packed her bags and exited the house, bidding farewell only to Mittal.
While the house believed she had been evicted, Bigg Boss revealed that Farhana had been moved to a secret room.
Bigg Boss called this development a direct result of the housemates’ choice.
