New Delhi: Alia Bhatt took to Instagram to share the collaboration between her husband Ranbir Kapoor and Aamir Khan. In a video shared on the app Tuesday, Bhatt opened a scroll, revealing the poster of a new project starring the two actors and directed by Nitesh Tiwari. Both Khan and Kapoor do not have any social media presence.
“Two of my favourite actors w̶i̶t̶h̶ against each other… P.S. I know you’re going to love it as much as I did,” read the caption.
The last time a movie with a near-similar title pitting two actors against each other was AK vs AK (2020), with Anurag Kashyap and Anil Kapoor playing the leads in the black comedy thriller.
The post does not clarify what kind of project it is, but fans are already excited to see the two actors share the screen. “Two best actors of Indian cinema,” wrote a user, while another commented on how Bhatt always hypes up her husband in everything he does.
However, she has added “#ad” in the post, which suggests it might just be an advertisement.
In a similar stunt earlier this month, actors Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar, and Abhay Deol had shared a picture of them, which fuelled rumours of them finally coming together for the sequel of their film Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011). However, it turned out to be an ad for Abu Dhabi’s Yas Island, which has a number of theme parks and adventure avenues.
The director of the upcoming project is making the magnum opus movie Ramayana, which stars Kapoor as Ram and Sai Pallavi as Sita.
Meanwhile, Bhatt and Kapoor are set to collaborate soon for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love and War, which will also star Vicky Kaushal in the lead. Kapoor was last seen in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal (2023), which was a blockbuster despite generating controversy for its depiction of Kapoor’s character, Ranvijay Singh.

After ‘Chaddha’ disaster
This could be the first time Kapoor and Khan come together to act in a film. Kpaoor had a brief cameo in Rajkumar Hirani’s PK (2014), which was the biggest blockbuster of the year. In a podcast in 2024, Kapoor shared valuable advice on work-life balance that he had received from Khan.
Laal Singh Chaddha (2022), which was an adaptation of the cult classic Forrest Gump, failed at the box office. Made on a budget of Rs 180 crore, it managed to earn only Rs 129.6 crore. Khan has since spoken in multiple interviews about the mistakes he felt were made while making the movie.
After the disaster of Laal Singh Chaddha, Khan is set to return to the big screen with Sitaare Zameen Par, a ‘spiritual sequel’ to Taare Zameen Par (2007). Announced in October 2023, the film stars Khan alongside Darsheel Safary and Genelia D’Souza. Directed by RS Prasanna, the movie is inspired by the 2018 Spanish film Champions and is expected to hit theatres later this year.
