(Reuters) – Argentina’s core farming region should face cold, dry weather over the next week, the Buenos Aires grains exchange said on Wednesday in a weather report.
Argentine farmers are currently harvesting the 2023/24 soy and corn crops, while the sowing of the 2024/25 wheat crop has kicked off.
A polar front is expected to bring temperatures down to lows between 0 and 5 degrees Celsius (32-41 F) in most of the agricultural area, the exchange said, with some risk of localized frosts and sleet.
Meanwhile, little to no rain is forecast for the region except in some isolated spots in the far northeast and the southern mountain range.
In the north of the zone, tropical winds will turn up the temperature, but will not be enough to offset the polar chill in the south, the exchange added.
