‘Stop working with Diljit’—Sardaar Ji 3 faces boycott call. AICWA opposes Hania Aamir

New Delhi: Diljit Dosanjh’s Sardaar Ji 3, whose trailer was released on Sunday, is now facing calls of boycott in India for the presence of Pakistani actor Hania Aamir in the project. The All Indian Cine Workers Association has warned Diljit of consequences and vowed to not allow the release of the film.

“Diljit has shown such bravado in going against India, from where he earns, and against his fans and is releasing his picture overseas. We will not allow the film’s release in India,” said AICWA founder and president Suresh Shyamlal Gupta in a video statement.

“Have you no shame?” asked Gupta, addressing the singer and actor, who recently held his successful Dil-Luminati tour across India.

“You are taking actors from a terrorist country. We will protest against this. We are also appealing to everyone from the industry to stop working with Diljit. We are boycotting him, his songs and any future concerts,” said Gupta in the video.

Sardaar Ji 3 is a sequel in the successful Punjabi franchise Sardaar ji, whose first installment came out in 2015. On Sunday, Diljit shared the film’s trailer on Instagram and wrote, “Sardaar Ji 3 Releasing 27th June OVERSEAS Only”. The trailer features Hania Aamir in various scenes, and also in a song along with Punjabi actor Neeru Bajwa.

The trailer of the film on YouTube has been made unavailable for viewing in India.

‘Take a stand’

The X post accompanying Gupta’s video also pointed out how AICWA had earlier boycotted Pakistani artists after the 2019 Pulawama attack. “We had warned the Indian film and music industry that any violation of this patriotic stand would face strict consequences,” read the post.

After the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people, most of them tourists, in Kashmir, Pakistani artists including Fawad Khan, Mahirah Khan, Mawra Hocane, and Hania Aamir were boycotted in India, with their Instagram handles also blocked in the country. Fawad Khan’s upcoming film Abir Gulaal, starring Vaani Kapoor, was also stalled indefinitely.

Hania, along with other Pakistani actors, had condemned India’s military strike on Pakistan in retaliation to the Pahalgam terror attack. In an Instagram story, she had written “cowardly”, sharing a post criticising India’s military action.

Sardarji 3’s trailer also prompted people to comment on Hania’s stance during Operation Sindoor. “This woman spit venom when our people died. There are gazillions of artists across the world. Why choose her?” asked one user. Another wrote, “In the next movie, cast Asim Munir,” referring to the Pakistan Army chief.

Meanwhile, AICWA’s post urged everyone to stand firm in the decision to boycott Diljit. “If the film industry and the people of India do not take a stand now, it will send the wrong message globally. National interest must come before personal profit or popularity,” it read.

  1. Diljit Dosanjh must be boycotted by every patriotic Indian.
He has been a Pakistani propaganda peddler for long. Also, his support and commitment to the Khalistan movement is well known.
Patriotic Indians must boycott such traitors.
