New Delhi: After three decades of bringing blinding bling to TV bahus, Ekta Kapoor now wants her actors to be their real selves. She calls it ‘representation’.

On Instagram, Kapoor asked women in their 30s and beyond to put health before aesthetics. In her video, she shared how she asked a female actor to gain healthy weight for a new season of a franchise.

“There should be representation of women above 30s, whose metabolism may have been slowed down due to age and hormones. You look a little better sometimes when you are not starving or mentally ill,” said Kapoor. Her video was captioned ‘Let’s normalise curves’.

Kapoor went on to talk about why it is harder for women at a certain age to lose weight. She, however, clarified that she is not promoting a lack of fitness, but acknowledging their struggles, and changes in their bodies.

“It’s a taboo in India. And people only talk about looks and weight and younger and older. But do not wanna talk about progress, personal and professional growth, and achievement. I totally agree with you,” actor Rashmi Desai commented on Kapoor’s video. Desai has been targeted multiple times online for her weight.

Another popular face of television, Divyanka Tripathi Dahiya also commented the post.” I am there na! Representing them all, always struggling between sizes but not giving up on workout or being mysel. fThat’s a wonderful message for everyone EK!”

Kapoor is credited for bringing in a revolution on television with her daily soaps in the early 2000s. She’s also launched many popular famous in the industry by starring them in multiple shows and films under her Balaji Motion Pictures banner.

Drugs and actors

In another video, Kapoor addressed her own weight gain. She asked her audience if she should go for an anti-inflammatory diet or ozempic. Anti-inflammatory diet has become the latest trend after actors like Vidya Balan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu swore by its benefits.

“Should I take pharmaceutical drugs like Mounjaro and Ozempic, follow an anti-inflammatory diet, or just keep quiet?” asked Kapoor in her video. She ended it by saying “Ya chhod doon, hum bade hi acche lagte hain”, which had people speculating if she was referring to the weight loss transformation of Ram Kapoor who acted in her serial Bade Acche Lagte Hai.

Ram Kapoor had given an interview where he mentioned a kissing scene in the popular television show, and how he was opposed to it. Ekta then shared a cryptic message after the interview, about ‘unprofessional’ actors.

  1. Of course she does. So that she can feature them in soft porn films and series under the banner of AltBalaji.
Indian men have a thing for voluptuous women and Ms. Ekta Kapoor has always been brilliant at reading the minds of her audience.
