Trends show the ruling Mahayuti beyond the halfway mark in Maharashtra and the ruling JMM-led coalition ahead of the BJP and its allies in Jharkhand. Polling for Maharashtra’s 288 seats was held in a single phase on 20 November, while the same for Jharkhand’s 81 seats was held in two phases (13 and 20 November).
Maharashtra is witnessing an election unlike any other, with two factions each of the Shiv Sena and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on either side of the ring, along with the two national parties, the BJP and the Congress.
In Jharkhand, the ruling JMM-led coalition looks poised to return to power in the wake of CM Hemant Soren’s release on bail and his wife Kalpana Soren’s statewide campaign.
