New Delhi: The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by the Prime Minister, approved 12 new industrial projects worth Rs. 28,602 crore for the development of industrial cities across 10 states. The approved projects are expected to create one million direct jobs and up to 3 million indirect jobs in the regions where they are being implemented, a PIB press release stated.
The industrial cities are being developed as greenfield smart cities with advanced infrastructure that will support sustainable and efficient industrial operations. They are planned to be located in Khurpia in Uttrakhand, Rajpura- Patiala in Punjab, Dighi in Maharashtra, Palakkad in Kerela, Agra and Prayagraj in UP, Gaya in Bihar, Zaheerabad in Telangana, Orvakal and Kopparthy in AP, and Jodhpur-Pali in Rajasthan. The projects are part of the National Industrial Corridor Development Program (NICDP), which aims to promote investment in manufacturing and create employment opportunities in the country.
The government has identified the areas of focus for the development of industrial cities, including the development of advanced infrastructure, supporting the growth of small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and promoting sustainable development. The NICDP is expected to play a key role in transforming India’s industrial landscape and improving the country’s economic competitiveness.
The approval of these 12 projects is a significant step forward in the government’s efforts to diversify India’s economy and promote industrial growth. The industrial cities are expected to create employment opportunities and contribute to the overall development of the country.
