New Delhi: The Secretary General of SAARC, Ambassador Golam Sarwar, has emphasised the importance of monetary stability in addressing the current global economic challenges.
In his speech at the Inaugural Session of the 45 SAARCFINANCE Governors’ Meeting and Symposium, held in Colombo on 13-14 June 2024, Ambassador Sarwar said that it was crucial to enhance regional cooperation in order to confront the current economic challenges and promote development.
He emphasised the importance of monetary and fiscal stability in ensuring sustained stability within the nation and in addressing the global economic challenges.
The President of Sri Lanka, Ranil Wickremesinghe, who presented a keynote speech at the symposium, also emphasised the importance of monetary stability in enhancing cooperation among SAARC member states.
The SAARCFINANCE Governors’ Symposium, which was held under the theme “Central Banking amid Multi-faceted Global Economic Challenges,” featured two panel discussions.
The 45 SAARCFINANCE Governors’ Meeting and Symposium was a milestone in the history of SAARC, as it marked the formal establishment of the regional network of Central Bank Governors and Finance Secretaries.
