New Delhi: The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) on 29 July launched the e-Sankhyiki portal. The portal aims to improve the existing system to manage and share data about official statistics in the country.

The portal consists of two modules, Data Catalogue and Macro Indicators.

The Data Catalogue module provides a list of the major data assets of the ministry, which can be searched and downloaded by the users. The Macro Indicators module offers time series data of macro indicators of four key products of the Ministry. This module also allows users to filter and visualise the data along with metadata.

Further, the ministry has also taken other steps to improve the management of official data, including storage of data in the cloud facility of the National Informatics Centre (NIC), security audit of applications, and implementation of security Sockets Layer (SSL) on the domains.

The idea behind the portal is to provide a comprehensive access to official statistics and will make it easier for the public to understand the data they are consuming.
