Indore, Mar 13 (PTI) Daikin India aims to increase its annual room air conditioner (AC) manufacturing capacity in the country from the current level of 30 lakh units to 40 lakh units by 2030, said a senior executive of the company on Friday.
The Indian arm of the Japanese firm, a leading player in the manufacturing of commercial use and residential air conditioning systems, will set up a new plant (its fourth) in Andhra Pradesh as part of its capacity expansion plan.
“We want to increase our room AC manufacturing capacity to 40 lakh units by 2030,” Daikin India Vice-President (North) Shiv Kumar Yadav told PTI in Indore.
“For this, we will set up another plant at Sri City SEZ in Andhra Pradesh,” he said.
He expressed hope that the proposed plant in Tirupati district, spread across 112 acres, will be ready within the next two years.
Yadav informed that Daikin currently manufactures room ACs at one factory in Sri City and two facilities in Neemrana, Rajasthan.
“Currently, a total of 30 lakh room ACs can be manufactured annually across these three factories,” he stated.
Yadav said that the annual market for room ACs in India is approximately 1.40 crore units.
“This segment has significant potential for expansion as only 10 per cent of India’s population currently uses room ACs,” he noted.
Yadav was in Indore to introduce Daikin’s new high-efficiency room ACs.
He also introduced the artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled “VRV Alpha Series,” which the company has developed for air conditioning systems in commercial buildings and large homes. PTI HWP MAS RSY
