Yes, so true, Varnika. There is currently a proposal to send every stray dog to a shelter. Will lead to profiteering and certain death for at least 80%. Plus it solves no problem because new dogs will come. They tried this in the late 80s in Delhi. Census estimated 4 lakh stray dogs in Delhi. The municipality trapped amd electrocuted 8lac dogs. I was a student in DU then, and saw all this. A post census showed that the dog population was still around 4 lacs. Aggression and dog bites cases rose dramatically since the new dogs were fighting for new territory and not friendly to resident humans. After this fiasco, WHO stepped in and an ABC programme was put in place that mandated sterilisation but prohibited relocation or killing.
It’s weird and puzzling indeed.
These animal lovers, because of idiots like them, hundreds of people across the nation are falling prey to stray dog attacks. Hundreds are bitten, some are mauled badly. At times, children and elderly are killed by these strays.
And yet, these animal lovers shamelessly defend stray dogs. Worse still, they encourage stray dogs by their extremely irresponsible behaviour like feeding these strays or letting them inside the residential complex.
Their love for animals, quite unfortunately, far exceeds their compassion and sympathy for fellow human beings.
Hope the municipal authorities will wake up to the grave danger posed by stray dogs to people, especially the very young and the very old. Urgent steps are required to control this stray dog menace in our cities.
Stray dogs are an absolute menace in Indian cities. There have been so many cases of them mauling toddlers and elderly citizens to death. Thousands have been grievously injured by packs of stray dogs during late night or early morning hours in our cities. The situation is especially severe in states like Kerala.
What is needed urgently is mass culling of stray dogs by municipal authorities. Nothing short of that measure will mitigate the threat posed by stray dogs to safety and security of city dwellers.

Fully agree
India is a weak state that is incapable of enforcing the laws of the land, be it a fine of ₹50 or ₹5000000000000.
