I disagree with you Mr. ashok. Better equation with the Christian community cannot come at the expense of tribals losing their own heritage, culture and religion. Tribals across India are primarily animist and their rituals and worship reflect the same. Their philosophies are unique and so are their cultural practices. The church imposes it’s belief systems on poor tribals by giving out various kinds of inducements – this is a story we all have known for long. What is egregious is that this actually leads to deracination of the younger generations of tribals leading to the spread of social evils like alcoholism, drug abuse, etc.
Mr. Dilip Gogoi is spot on in his observations regarding the Khasi society. Having been educated at Shillong, I can confirm the same.
The Union government must ensure that Christian missionaries do not enter areas inhabited by tribal folks. Not much can be done in the north-east, with the exception of Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura where efforts to convert the local tribes into Christianity has been successfully combated by the tribal society. What happened in the north-eastern states like Meghalaya, Nagaland and Mizoram, due to the misplaced idealism of Nehru and his blind admiration of Verrier Elwin, must not be allowed to happen in central India or elsewhere.
Kerala BJP has already started their christian outreach through by inciting enmity between muslims and christians. The love jihad issue suddenly resurfaced, through right wing online outlets like marunadan malayali and CASA( A Christian fundamentalist organization) and so on.. Asianet news( owned by bjp chief in kerala), janam tv( RSS affiliated channel), and churches own channel shekina tv have slowly restarted the tried formula of love jihad and muslim demonstration formula.
The church will not be allowed to convert innocent tribal people to Christianity.
The Union government is committed to protecting the indigenous religions, rituals, culture and heritage of the tribals. No church organization must be allowed to connect with tribals residing in the forested hills of Central India.
Being a resident of north-east India, I have witnessed first hand how the church surreptitiously converts innocent tribal folks to Christianity and turns them against their own culture and heritage. Today, converted Christian Khasis in Meghalaya look down upon and mock their Seng Khasi brethren. The Seng Khasi people are discriminated against in every possible way. Continuous pressure is exerted by the various church organisations to force the Seng Khasi to convert and leave behind their indigenous religion and rituals.
Christianity is simply unable to accommodate the diverse religious practices and philosophical schools of tribal societies. They force their own theology and rituals on tribals leading to the deracination of the younger generation of those who convert. This eventually leads to them to various social evils like alcoholism, drug abuse, etc.

Kerala. Goa. North east. A better equation with the Christian community would be good for the long term political project of the BJP.
