Amarjit Singh Dulat (A S Dulat) was a spymaster and a former special director of the Intelligence Bureau and former secretary of Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW) from 1999 to 2000. After retirement, he was appointed as an advisor on Jammu and Kashmir in the Prime Minister's Office, serving in the role from January 2000 to May 2004. He is the author of 'A Life in the Shadows: A Memoir' and 'The Chief Minister and the Spy: An Unlikely Friendship', and co-author of 'The Spy Chronicles: RAW, ISI and the Illusion of Peace'
