India’s paddy area coverage increases by over 979 lakh hectares compared to 2023

Total area sown of paddy this year is 331.78 lakh hectares.

The Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare (DAF) of India has recently released the progress of the area coverage under the Kharif crops. According to the DAF, the total area sown of paddy is 331.78 lakh hectares, which is more than 979 lakh hectares when compared to the corresponding period of last year, a PIB press release stated.

The area sown under pulses is 117.43 lakh hectares, which is less than 110.08 lakh hectares when compared to the same period in 2023. Similarly, the area sown under coarse cereals is 173.13 lakh hectares, which is higher than 171.36 lakh hectares in 2023. The area sown under oilseeds is 183.69 lakh hectares, which is less than 182.17 lakh hectares when compared to the corresponding period of last year.

The DAF report further states that the total area sown of paddy this year is 331.78 lakh hectares, which is more than 979 lakh hectares when compared to the corresponding period of last year.
