MHA’s statement recommending “legal action” against former R&AW officer Vikas Yadav shows India’s intent to reset US-India relations ahead of Trump’s swearing-in, and a commitment to due process. By doing this, it has subtly acknowledged a botched operation while distancing itself from Yadav. It certainly spells trouble for the ex-officer.
The US and Qatar brokered ceasefire pact between Israel and Hamas will hopefully bring the 15-month conflict to an end. Netanyahu is seen as having dragged this fight for too long to save his own chair. While this ceasefire was long awaited, lasting peace remains elusive without deeper political resolution.
