The pseudo-moral objection to actor Poonam Pandey playing the role of Ravan’s wife in Delhi’s Ramleela is laughable. Casting isn’t a chastity test. Those who don’t understand what acting is have spoken, and Pandey lost the job. Acting is about skill, not personal lifestyle choices. Uncles and aunties, sit down.

To the editor who feels so strongly for Ms. Poonam Pandey – since you seem to understand acting so well, why don’t you give it a try?
Also, instead of pontificating to Hindus, why don’t you try the same with Muslims and Christians? Or are you afraid of the “repercussions”?
