With a majority of states framing draft rules under the four labour codes, Centre should now notify the laws that will reform the labour market. Parliament passed the codes almost five years ago. Delaying essential reforms on the pretext that 2.5 states haven’t framed rules looks more like an excuse.

Normally my vote is always for labour reforms. However, felt troubled to read about working conditions in an Amazon warehouse in Gurgaon, where workers were denied water and restroom breaks for upto two hours, to complete the task of unloading trucks. Strike a better balance.
