India has hit terrorist camps in Pakistan and PoK in a decisive night raid against extremist safe havens. And this time, the evidence is clear as day. The retribution for the Pahalgam, Pulwama, and Uri terror attacks shows there’s an escalation ladder and India is not averse to climbing it.

Operation Sindoor, women officers in briefing—govt’s messaging is measured but determined

Operation Sindoor is an apt name for India’s missile strikes on Pakistan. It has powerful resonance across India. Women have suffered the most unspeakable loss in Pahalgam terror attack. The government followed this up with smart optics of foregrounding women officers in national briefing. The messaging is measured but determined.

  1. According to Ms. Vaishna Roy (Editor, The Hindu), an old friend of Mr. Shekhar Gupta, the name “Sindoor” is an abomination. The fact that the Indian government and the the military named the operation “Sindoor”, shows that they believe in “ownership of women” and are “regressive, patriarchal, primitive, ……..”.
So does this mean that Mr. Shekhar Gupta does not concur with his old buddy Ms. Vaishna Roy?

  2. The selection of nine targets for Operation Sindoor was impeccable. Nests of terror. No military, economic or civilian sites, which define a normal war. India is standing on the first step of the ladder, no longer deterred by where it leads to further up. It is for Pakistan to consider whether it wishes to move up. Also for each government that has leverage or influence over it and General Asim Munir to counsel utmost restraint.
