Calling Ali Khan Mahmudabad’s argument about war an insult to women or military is senseless

The vicious hounding and egregious arrest of Ali Khan Mahmudabad for expressing his opinion is a shameful insult to our millennia-old democratic tradition. His argument about war and domestic politics is a constitutional freedom. As is your right to disagree. Calling it an insult to women or military is senseless.

  1. The Print is too clever by half. It tries to distract us with this idiotic editorial on some Jihadi professor at the infamous Ashoka University.
While the real news right now is Congress’ snubbing of Dr. Shashi Tharoor for accepting the invite from GoI to lead the MP’s delegation. The Print, for obvious reasons, chose not to put out an editorial on this as well as the public humiliation of Dr. Tharoor by Jairam Ramesh.

  2. Inevitably the burden falls on the Courts to uphold constitutionally guaranteed freedoms. Whereas they should only be the last resort. So many guardrails falling away, like cobwebs.

  3. The Print is extremely hurt at Mahmudabad’s arrest.
This was evident from the way The Print reported on this issue. The article published, quite cleverly, focused on his words which seem innocuous. Very deliberately, the article did not delve into the past deeds and utterances of Prof. Mahmudabad.
This professor teaches at Ashoka University – an institution infamous for harbouring Hinduphobic “intellectuals” such as Christophe Jaffrelot. Prof. Mahmudabad has time and again insulted and derided Hindu traditions and customs. Hindu beliefs are always at the receiving end of his vicious attacks. In his classes and research, he invariably denigrates and demonises the Hindu community.
The management at Ashoka University takes great delight at promoting such Hinduphobia and Indophobia. The more Hinduphobic /Indophobic some “scholar” is, the more s/he is feted and celebrated.
I appeal to the state government of Haryana to cancel the registration of this university and force it to close it’s shop.
