Maharashtra minister Nitesh Rane calling Kerala ‘mini-Pakistan’ and those who voted for Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Vadra ‘terrorists’ displays a hideous mindset. It was unfortunate that BJP rewarded the serial hatemonger with ministership. CM Fadnavis’ and BJP’s silence on his remarks amounts to endorsement. They must show him the door.
Biren Singh’s apology is a joke. He’s not the leader for Manipur
Biren Singh saying sorry is another of his jokes on Manipur and he’s the only one laughing—in cynicism and contempt. The violence has consumed many lives and left the state ethnically and geographically segregated. It will take an astute and credible leader to fix it. Biren Singh isn’t that. Drift will deepen the disaster.
What exactly is the issue with Nitish Rane’s statement? His assertion is correct in the sense that Muslims in Kerala are highly radicalised. It is an open secret that Kerala sends the highest number of recruits to ISIS and other Islamic terrorist organizations.
The Print would do well to focus on fact based journalism. Gaslighting journalism will not serve it in the long term. Indians can see through the agenda of The Print editorial team.
West Asia, South Asia, of course. Consider also how this would be viewed in countries like Indonesia and Malaysia, important partners for India.
Nitish Rane spoke the truth. If The Print’s woke editorial team is hurt or offended, they can resign right away.
Also, Biren Singh’s apology came too late and he must be held accountable for mishandling the Manipur issue. But the final blame for the Manipur violence lies with the Indian judiciary. It was the Manipur High Court’s order which sparked this ethnic conflict.
Mr. Shekhar Gupta keeps talking about “objectivity in journalism” but his editorial team displays no objectivity at all. It’s bias is all too obvious. Not once did The Print journalists hold the Manipur High Court judges responsible for the violence and conflict. The judiciary, very cunningly, was guven a free pass and the blame was put on Biren Singh.
It’s quite obvious that if Biren Singh had been a Congress CM, The Print editors would have gone soft on him.
